Kids Dentistry FAQs

For most children, we suggest twice-yearly checkups, usually every six months. That gives us a chance to catch small issues early, keep their teeth clean, and reinforce great habits at home. In some cases (like cavities or dental conditions), we may see them more often.

At each appointment, Dr. Cole gently examines teeth, gums, bite, and development. We’ll clean teeth, remove plaque and tartar, and apply fluoride if it’s the right time. We also show kids how to brush and floss while answering any questions they have.

Worrying is totally normal! Here at Turtle Bay, we take time to help your child feel calm and in control. That might mean explaining what’s happening using words they understand, singing a bit, letting them hold a mirror, or offering nitrous oxide sedation. We’ll choose what's right for their age, mood, and comfort.

Yes, when needed! We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for mild relaxation and oral conscious sedation for more anxious or sensitive children. Dr. Cole discusses your child’s treatment needs with you to choose the best, safest option.

We’re here to help. Turtle Bay Pediatric Dentistry accepts credit/debit cards, CareCredit, Sunbit, Cherry financing, and offers an in-house membership plan for families without insurance. While we don't accept Medicaid at this time, we’ll help you explore payment options to make care easy and worry-free.

Absolutely. Dr. Cole has experience treating children with a range of special healthcare needs. We’ll work with you to create a care plan that’s comfortable, respectful, and tailored to your child’s unique needs, including slower pacing, quiet spaces, and sensory accommodations.
